AWS Customer challenge
While migrating its direct private car and van brands to CDL's Strata retail insurance platform, motor insurer Sabre Insurance was looking for an Insurer Hosted Pricing (IHP) solution to enable it to take control of product pricing and distribution to increase the competitiveness of its direct products, support rapid, market-wide distribution and enhance customer experiences.
It required a cloud-hosted solution to deliver the scalability and resilience it needed to expand capacity and support its growth and efficiency goals.
How AWS was leveraged as part of the solution
CDL's Proteus Insurer Hosted Pricing (IHP) solution has a track record delivering in-house product control and vital speed to market. Processing over 160 million transactions per day, it uses AWS services to ensure resilience and scalability when storing and processing data.
Multiple Availability Zones and the Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) allows applications to be run in a managed cluster of Amazon instances, as well as Amazon S3 object storage to give access to the same highly scalable, reliable and fast data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites.
Self-healing services operate on optimal compute resources via capacity providers, while AWS Enterprise Support, 24/7/365 monitoring and technical collaboration allows the highest levels of availability.
AWS Key Management Service (KMS) is used to give Sabre Insurance the latest security standards protecting IP and customer data, while supporting international compliance requirements.
CDL is an AWS Differentiated Software Partner and a Select Services Partner. Its globally recognised cloud capabilities and track record in deploying to the cloud have seen it achieve a number of designations, including AWS Financial Services ISV Competency for Proteus.
Outcome(s) and/or quantitative results
As a proven Insurer Hosted Pricing (IHP) hub, CDL Proteus gives Sabre Insurance the ability to make modifications to products and pricing in real time, enabling them to support brokers by instantly responding to fluctuations in market conditions and giving broker partners faster access to competitive rates.
Crucially, the Proteus transformation layer enables the UK's major software houses and business partners to integrate with the hub. This eliminates the time and cost previously associated with product release via a number of different technology platforms. Brokers and customers are now able to access product updates and accurate rates instantly.
Integrations with CDL's wider insurtech ecosystem through CDL Strata makes it possible to enhance rating decisions and customer journeys using extensive industry data.
As an AWS-hosted solution, Proteus is easily scalable, enabling Sabre Insurance to expand capacity on demand as it grows its customer base or adds new products.
Customer statement
"The move to an IHP hub is extremely timely as we look forward to having greater pricing flexibility, including the ability to roll-out enhanced pricing models. We anticipate benefits from partnering with CDL to bring our IHP and direct systems together within a proven insurance ecosystem."
