AWS Customer challenge

Sabre Insurance is one of the UK's most successful providers of private car and motorbike insurance, operating primarily through its broker network, as well as direct brands, such as Insure 2 Drive and Go Girl.

As part of ongoing investment, Sabre Insurance was looking for a strategic retail platform that would enable both improved operational efficiency and enhanced consumer experiences to support its growth and efficiency goals, including through integrations with CDL's wider insurance ecosystem.

How AWS was leveraged as part of the solution

Following a formal tender process, Sabre Insurance chose to migrate its direct private car and van brands, Go Girl and Insure 2 Drive to the Strata retail insurance platform as a proven high volume retail solution.

Used by some of the UK's largest personal lines providers, the system generates millions of transactions each day, making AWS the ideal cloud-hosting platform to deliver the resilience and scalability required to handle these volumes.

With Financial Services Competency status and Advanced Technology Partner status in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network (APN), CDL has a strong track record in deploying Strata on AWS.

As a fully componentised platform, Strata enables the sale and administration of policies via a range of channels, including web, price comparison sites, contact centre, mobile and voice devices.

CDL's self-service portal allows customers to manage their insurance policies online, from downloading documentation, through to making mid-term adjustments to renewals.

New features for Sabre include access to the CDL API suite, enabling it to build and maintain its own brand quote and buy journeys.

The move also saw Sabre launch on CDL's cloud-based insurer hosted pricing hub, Proteus, for mass market distribution with greater product and pricing control.

AWS solutions leveraged for Sabre Insurance include:

  • Global deployment options: to ensure resilience and regulatory compliance. These include Multiple Availability Zones and the Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) to enable applications to be run in a managed cluster of Amazon instances, as well as Amazon S3 object storage to give access to the same highly scalable, reliable and fast data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites.
  • Amazon RDS Support: Amazon RDS engines are used to bring data together into a consistent model that enables powerful analytics capability and integration with visualisation dashboards to deliver real time business intelligence. CDL also utilises RDS features such as database snapshots, enhanced monitoring, performance insights and tight integration with IAM.

Outcomes

The move to Strata is supporting Sabre to drive growth in the fast-moving connected car insurance sector. Benefits of the CDL's insurance ecosystem identified by Sabre include:

  • High levels of automation
  • Complete control of customer journeys
  • Operational efficiency
  • Sophisticated digital and data capabilities

Customer statement
